Espionage (spying) is the act of collecting information on an island and can be carried out whether an island is unowned or not. Any [warship|ship] can be used, merchant ships cannot be used to spy.
Some observations from .co.uk and .de include:
- The watch tower level has an effect upon the chances of success
- By using 3 small warships (sent as three attacks), at least one will succeed and and at least one will fail
- Statues have absolutely no effect on the outcome of spies
- If a spy is detected by the defenders watchtower it will fail
- The defender being online has no effect on the outcome (this is a very common misconception).
For chances of success see Watch Tower.
