-- SYNOPSIS: The sponsor supports an in-residence fellowship program to allow scholars to investigate topics in the social and behavioral sciences. Each scholar is provided with an office at the Foundation, research assistance, computer and library facilities, and salary support for the academic year of up to $110,000 when unavailable from other sources and, for scholars outside the greater New York City area, a subsidized apartment nearby the Foundation offices.

-- DEADLINE NOTE: The sponsor will allow a grace period until October 15 for applicants to the class of 2009-10.

-- OBJECTIVES: The sponsor annually awards up to twenty residential fellowships to selected scholars in the social sciences, who are at least several years beyond the Ph.D. The award allows these Visiting Scholars to pursue their research and writing at the Foundation for periods of up to one year.

-- ELIGIBILITY: The sponsor welcomes groups of two or more scholars who wish to collaborate or pursue parallel research projects within an area of common interest. For such working groups, the sponsor can provide a small budget to support joint research, or other activities, such as seminars or small conferences, that advance the group's project.
