Alan Keyes (August 7, 1950) is an American politician, diplomat, and social conservative activist. He is a member of the Republican Party, a talk radio host and a frequent candidate for public office. He served in the U.S. Foreign Service, was appointed Ambassador to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations and then became U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for International Organizations under President Ronald Reagan.Keyes is notable for his unsuccessful campaigns for the U.S. Presidency in 1996 and 2000 and for the U.S. Senate in 1988, 1992 and 2004.
