Help:Contributing
From Eliafamily
The first step in contributing to this site is to Special:UserLogincreate an account and log in. Creating an account is easy and doesn't cost anything or lead to junk emails or anything of that nature. In fact, some sites let you edit pages without an account, but this site restricts editing to registered users. This makes it less likely that the page will be "vandalized" by people outside the family, and makes it easier to manage the site in case such vandalism occurs.
Once you've logged in, you may edit any page you read. Simply use the Edit tab at the top of the page and type away. (You can also use the Edit links that appear on the page itself.) For more information on editing pages, see: Help:Editing. Don't be shy about contributing; any errors or ugly formatting can easily be fixed by other users. Pages can also be deleted or "rolled back" to earlier versions. So there's really no reason not to contribute!
Photos can be uploaded using the Upload file link in the left-hand menu. Try and keep photos small; space on the website is limited. If you need help with photos or want to add to the eliafamily photo gallery at webshots.com, email your pictures to Steven St. John.
Links that appear red are links to pages that have not been created yet. Often the links were made on the off chance that someone would like to contribute on that topic. So don't wait for a red link to be filled out by someone else: jump in and create the page yourself if you are so moved! Just click on the link to the empty page and then click on the Edit tab.
You may also email any text or questions to Steven St. John if you are uncertain how to edit pages yourself.
Thank you for helping make the Elia Family Project a living, growing history of our family.
