3500 years ago...

The Matoran, Motan, was running around the great city of Kage Nui. He wasn't running away from anyone and he wasn't running to anything. He just felt like running around. Motan was a Po-Matoran, having pride in his unique orange and grey coloring. "What, again?" Motan looked to his right, where the voice came from. In that area he saw a grey and silver Onu-Matoran. "Oh, hey Amano." Motan said.

Amano walked towards Motan as he said "Why were you running Motan?" "You have to ask?" Motan began "For absolutely no reason!" "You're pretty stupid, aren't you?" said Amano "Oh come on, you know me long enough to know the answer to that." "Whatever. Kage Nui still isn't finished, we need people for the construction crew." "Oh, but that's no fun." "What's really not fun is having to live on those Ga-Islands until this city is finished." Motan stared at Amano's Pakari, thinking over what he just said. "Fine..."

The next day...

Motan decided to work on the Colliseum, similar to the well known Collisuem from Metru Nui. Amano, though, chose to work on the other buildings. "It gives me less work." was what Motan said to back up his decision. The job was pretty easy, pretty straightforward, and, in Motan's oppinion, pretty boring. During his brake, he decided to look around and find something to do. It took him only three minutes before he saw a Turaga walk into the unfinished Colliseum. "Who's that?" "The Turaga that volunteered to lead Kage Nuionce it finished." Motan turned to the Matoran who unexpectingly answered his Matoran. He was a blue and red Matoran that wore a Hau. "Um... okay, tha-" "I'm Komaki by the way." "Okay... nice to meet you."

Motan walked towards the Turaga, who was mostly yellow. "Hey, who're you?" "Well whipper-snapper, I'm the Turaga, Takan." "What'd you call me?" "You heards me whipper-snapper!" "Sure." Motan then walked away, grumbling something unappropiate about Takan's age. "I heards that!" Motan ignored this and just walked back to the contructions workers.

"So, what do you think of him?" Komaki asked Motan this almost immediately after he got back. "He looks like a horrible leader," Motan began "I wouldn't be surprised if he was killed by tomarrow." "Oh... That's not good." "Why not? It's not like anyone's actually going to kill him." "Actually, there are a few peopel who wish to have the Matoran govern themselves." "Like they'll actually kill a Turaga?"

For the rest of the day, the Matoran worked all over the city. Within a month, the city was finished with contrsuction and Kakan was still alive. Though, Komaki stilll believed that the Turaga was still in danger. His constant nagging actually made the Kakan caucious, so he enlisted the help of a Toa of Light and Shadows named Loche. This Toa was cruel towards most Matoran and no one really liked him.

Loche found that there was no point in protecting Kage Nui, as no one seemed to want it. Mostly, he just had to break up fights and patrolling traffic. Motan was treated poorly by Loche, due to his nature of pranking people.

Motan was running away from Loche because of an incident involving a foodstand and spraypaint. Soon enough, Komaki and Anamo were running alongside him. "Hey Motan, what happned? Komaki asked. "Yeah, you get in trouble?" "I'm being chased by a-" Motan's sentance was cut off when he fell into his own shadow and was soon brought back up with Loche grabbing him. "You think you can get away from me?" Loche asked "I'm going to make sure you don't do it again." "Don't do what again?" Loche looked at Amano before he said "He spray painted a foodstand." "Okay... A whole bunch of people do that though." Komaki said. "Yes, but I caught this one and I'm in a bad mood." "Hey, can I have a say in this judgement?" Loche looked at the Matoran he was holding. "No." Loche then walked away with Motan.

"Where exactly are we going?" Motan asked this after an hour of walking. "You don't have to know." They kept walking until Loche stopped. "What!?" "Shut up!" Loche said. "Dark Hunters..." Motan looked and saw a Toa like being with animalistic features and a being clad in armor of different origins. Loche immediately began to fight the two. Loche was able to easily beat the armor covered one. The Toa-like one was copying everything he did and was putting up a fight. Motan was watching the fight when Komaki and Amano came to his side. "Come on, Let's go!" Amano said. "Wait," Motan began, "he may need help."

The fight went on for a few more minutes before the Dark Hunter in armor blasted Loche with a strange machine that crumbled after its use. once it hit, Loche screamed in pain as he turned into energy and rushed into Amano, Motan, and Komaki. "What did you do!?" The Toa creature asked. "I thought it would be something good." "Well now we lost our bounty!" "Well then, I guess it's time to go." The Dark HUnters than left on a ship as the three Matoran transformed...

"What?" Motan had woken up and it was daylight. He looked to his left and right to see Toa that resmebled Amano and Komaki. He got to his feet and looked at his hands. He was now white and covered in black markings. He looked on the floor to see a Mask that resembled a cross between an Avohkii and a Kraahkan. He put it on his face after feeling that he had no mask on. "What the!?" Motan quickly turned to Amano, who had woken up along with Komaki. "Motan, is that you?" Komaki asked, now wearing a mask that looked like his former one fused with the Vahi.

Within an hour the three new Toa discovered what there new abbilities were. Komaki became a Toa of Sonics and that his mask let him know everything about the people he sees. Amano discovered that he was at Toa of Death, letting him kill plants and decay inanimate objects, his mask becoming a Great Mask of Strength. Motan discovered he became a Toa of Light and Shadows with the ability to swtich through two modes, a combat mode and a projectile mode. Due to the similarities between his combat mode and Loche, Motan cahged his name to Makoki, the Matoran word for key.
