LoL/(M)(GAF) Take Cuttle to the lake on the edge of town

The narrow end of a large lake lies just outside of town and it doesn't take you long to reach the gentle, sandy beach, the cool, clear lake water lapping against the shore. You stop at the water's edge and set Cuttle on his tentacles.
"Here you are," you say. "You're free now, like I promised."
"Thank you," Cuttle says, stretching up to give you a soft kiss. You kiss him back, your eyes closing as you hand caresses his face. After a moment, he draws back, his writhing tentacles carrying him into the lake until he disappears beneath the surface. You stand for a moment, waiting, but he doesn't reappear.
