I dash after Nathan. Get me the hell out of here! I hear screams and shouts from the living room, but it's too late to think about it and I catch up with Nathan as he tries to scramble over a fence. Jimmy has already dodged through a hole in the side of the fence, and Marin is hurtling along a dozen feet beyond the fence.
There wasn't time to think. I ran with Nathan until I couldn't run anymore and collapsed sweating in a heap. Jimmy tripped over me and landed on Nathan's heels, pulling him down too.
We were alone on what looked like Harrison Street, looking down the hill that leads into Johnson Park. I could see Lucas Marin already hightailing it under the bridge over the entrance to the park and disappearing around a bend.
