D&D: Continue on your way
From Create Your Own Story
You pass the halted caravan and continue on your way. The sun begins to set and the sky darkens but your feet carry you ever forward. You walk beside the road. The grass is softer on your bare feet. You cross a few more travelers who are either going the same way you are, or going away. You pass them as you walk faster then they. You meet more and more people as you get closer to the city of splendor and you finally spot the fortified walls.
Just as dusk falls, you see people begins to light torches near the road close to the city to ward off the darkness. Guards becomes a common sight and you notice a substantial grouping before the main gateway. It seems blocked as people wait in line to get inside.
Beside a few hunter looking people, you seem to be the only wild one in the vicinity. The guards gives you awkward glances and so are some of the commoners and travelers.
You decide to take some distance away from the entrance and ponder for moment. It seems to be more complicated to get in Waterdeep then simply walking through the front gate. Why does townfolks have to make such a trivial things difficult ?
You walk down to the river and refresh yourself a bit near the cold stream. Despite not being incredibly clean, the water is not too bad for being so close to the city.
A man walks by your little resting spot. He looks like a merchant and looks a bit annoyed. He walks to the streams and picks up some water before noticing you. His eyes betrays his surprise for a moment to spot your elven figure by the river stream.
He examines you for a moment, hiding his glances when you turn to look towards him.
You sigh and ignore him after a bit, pondering how to get to the city. You realise you might be able to get through by turning into an animals. These fortification looks old and are probably full of holes. Or you could just fly over it.
