You freeze, instantly. You hold your breath and listen to the sounds of the night, hoping you're wrong, hoping you won't hear another branch breaking.

You left the shelter of the tree, and you are now exposed. However, you are too scared to move. You hope that if you stand still, whoever is out there won't see you.

You don't hear anything more. The night is silent, creepy. Your throat feels dry, and your heart is thumping rapidly.

You don't know how much time passes in silence, the only sounds you can hear being your own rapid breathing.

Just as you are beginning to hope that whoever is out there missed you, an arm grabs you from behind, wrapping itself tightly around your chest.

Then you feel a stinging pressure against your throat, sliding from left to right.

Your killer holds you motionless until your blood stops flowing out of your severed throat and your heart stops beating.
