So, this is a hot button topic for many people. With teen pregnancies, with technology (And this and my technology post will probably have some parallels), and with, of course, everyone crying out for stupid laws (And this will probably have some overlap too) to "Protect the children", this is a topic very few people actually look at from a realistic standpoint.

So, lets start with the obvious, not so hot button point.

Underage people having sex with each other.

It seems that more people preach abstinence than teach protecting yourself.

So, you are 13, and your period starts. You are 14 and you start to get strange feelings about the girl sitting next to you.

What happens? Well, most kids, if they have someone close of the opposite gender, will start doing things like "You show me yours and I will show you mine" or "doctor". They start getting to know the opposite genders body.

Many will start going online, start finding porn and things. They will start to try to understand by talking to others, either in real life, or online.

Yet, this exploration is not guided, because most people do not wish to discuss sex frankly with underage people. So, they start exploring without being sure what they are doing, what it really means.

This also starts leading, later, to experimenting with sex directly. Did you know that many girls in Jr. high have given oral? It is not considered sex. I felt this way when I was young. Then again, when I was young, I was also having sex.

It also leads to teens having sex. For girls, for the most part, it is an expression of how much we love our boyfriend. We are giving him our first time.

But, in all this exploration, society relies on parents to explain sex, the urges, and tells us not to do it. Guess what, teens are curious and are driven by these new found thoughts that they are not exactly sure how to deal with. And most parents fail miserably to really, truly explain. For girls, maybe not all, but most parents will warn you about those wicked boys, and how they only have one thing on their mind. And people wonder why we look at it as "Giving something special" to our boyfriend, who we know doesn't just have one thing on his mind, regardless of the truth? And that he just loves us so we will prove our love to him.

Well, so here we go, having sexual relations, without understanding how to protect ourselves. By this, I mean more than just condoms. I mean protect ourselves from those pictures that he wants us to send, or he sends.

So, the risks. Well, many girls have been the victim of forwarded pics. The boyfriend gets it, then forwards to all his friends, not realizing why this is bad.

Then, of course, there is the biggest risk: pregnancy.

Many teens, while sort of familiar with condoms, don't really use them. They do not understand the consequences. Normally those who do are those who have seen first hand the results.

Then, there is the darker side of it all. When these same kids fall prey to predators. It is pretty easy to fall into the trap. You friend someone online, talk to them, and eventually, thinking they are your friend, or something else, meet them. When reality stares them in the face, things get bad very quickly.

So, how do they fall victim? They are repeatedly warned about strangers, and how strangers may hurt them, but things are left vague. Adults don't want to really discuss it, instead with vague "Strangers will hurt you". True, teens now are more and more used to the internet, but it still happens. And a vague "Hurt you" doesn't really help anyone. Trust me, it wouldn't have scared me. Maybe if more detailed descriptions, real scare stories, I would have understood at that age, but the vagueness? Most teens think nothing can ever happen to them.

I have tried to be honest with people on various websites that are setting themselves up for potentially dangerous situations, but even I am careful, because I am an adult. Not because I want to be somewhat vague still, but because I am afraid I will get in trouble myself.

Then, there is the other big issue: Those who are sexually active, and are aware of it, yet are criminalized for it.

Sadly, when I was 15, the oldest person I was having sex with was 42. Did he take advantage of me? Some might say yes, but I knew what I was doing. So, he was technically doing something illegal (then again, if I was having sex with another 15 year old, since the age of consent in my state was 16, I would also be doing something illegal). But, did he hurt me? No. In fact, he was a more attentive lover those closer to my own age. Basically, I knew what sex was, and enjoyed it more with him. So, should he be arrested, thrown in jail, given a permanent criminal record? Some might say yes, but I do not agree. Again, I knew what I was doing. He wasn't using power of authority. He wasn't coercing me. I engaged in sexual activity with him willingly.

Now, for the really strange part. This is CYoS, and as most people know, underage sex has been banned here. I understand why, legal liability. But, the question is this: Why is there this legal liability?

For example, I wrote someone a message on here that, quite frankly, he sometimes scared me, when he had a 13 year old boy raping and killing a woman. But, here is the thing: I can chose not to read it. And, honestly, I would rather he write about that legally to his hearts content than to not be able to find an outlet for those kinds of thoughts, and possibly bring it into real life. Better to let someone have their fantasy than to have them make it a reality. Some might think that "Hey, thinking and writing about it may be more likely to lead him to act on it". I don't really agree.

I mean, I write stories about being a public sex toy. Sure, I have set up one, to turn a fantasy into a reality so I knew what it was like. But, now, it is not an option for me. So, better to have an outlet to do it in my mind, rather than to do it in real life. How many of the people who write these kinds of stories are doing it as an outlet, so they can have their fantasy without turning someone else into a victim?

I mean, not to say I agree with their story, or am even interested in reading it. Not that I understand it. But, I would rather them just write and think than do.

I will hit on other ramifications of underage sex in a different part of my bio.
