Job Hunt
From Create Your Own Story
After receiving the keys from Jessie, I pull out of the dealership and decide to take my car out for a test drive.
A few miles up and around the corner I find a nightclub. Plastered on one of the windows is a sign with big gold letters that reads: 'Help Wanted! In need of young people who are confident and unafraid to show a little skin. Good people skills are commendable, and if you have the heart of an entertainer then this job might be perfect for you! Our wages start off at $10 and go up with experience!'''
I re-read the requirements over and over again. This place obviously does not have a prestigious tone, but who am I to judge? Most of my old family and friends perceive me as a gutter rat. Trash. Dispensable. Taking this job would be one more thing to throw in their faces, and honestly, I would love to see their expressions! My mom would freak out. My sister would put me to shame. And my father, well, he wouldn't really be too surprised.
I consider the option and decide to drive around for a bit and think it through. The starting pay isn't too shabby, however I do wonder, just what kind of work would they expect me to do. The sign stated "show a little skin". Just how much is a little?
I decide to take a drive and think it over for a bit. As I'm making my way down Crest Hill, a very steep winding road, I nearly hit a man carrying a stack of newspapers. I skid to a sudden stop in the middle of the hill, my car continuing to slowly lurch forward.
I turn to the man with the newspapers, "What is wrong with you? I nearly killed you! You should know better than to high-tail it across Crest Hill while there are cars."
The man shook his head and grinned, "Notice how you are the only car on this road, lady? You obviously passed up the construction sign. The city is trying to level it out more, and you are just messing up the gravel."
