You decide to ignore the object. Hey, you're not taking any chances in here. The pedestal begins to descend into a small chasm in the floor. You look down into the seemingly endless hole in the floor. There looks to be a service ladder that goes all the way down. It seems to be the only way out; but it's pretty dark down there, you don't know where it leads.
