You sit down on the sofa opposite the one she sits in. 'Thanks for taking the case,' she says. 'I didn't think you would after you found out that Marty Riordan was involved.'
'I haven't taken it yet,' you say. 'Tell me everything. And no holding back secrets this time.'
The blonde smiles. 'Of course.' She takes a sip of her drink. If she looked good in your office that morning, she looks even more beautiful in the darkened room with the sound of the rain coming through the window.
'My husband is rich, Mr. Horne,' she says finally. 'I am not. At least, I wasn't till I married him. He is also not a young man. He wasn't young when I married him either.'
'When we announced our engagement his lawyers drew up a document for me to sign.' She smiles. 'Apparently his family didn't believe that a girl like me was interested in him just because of his boyish charm...'
