"What's the real deal with your and Anthony's rivalry? There are some undercurrents here that I've been trying to decipher... Some animosity that seems to go much deeper than you originally implied."
"You ask a lot of questions, don't you?"
"I want to do this job right, and it's better if I know what's at stake."
"Fine. I'll let you know a bit about the situation. But don't expect me to bare my problems before you in full detail."
"Fair enough. I'm only asking for basic facts."
"Well, here's one fact... Anthony and I knew each other in college before I dropped out. We were never close friends, but it once came up in conversation that we'd both love to open a nightclub. And then we did a logical thing - we made a pact. We swore we'd open a club together. I would manage it, and he'd secure investment thanks to his own money and his family's connections. And then... we had a falling out. He betrayed me."
"But why?"
"Because he's a bastard. A rich kid who needs to get his hands on everything he wants. When the Aphrodite property was finally for sale, I found out he was planning to buy it alone and cut me out. Two days later and I'm at the coffee shop with Brie...
"...and once we returned from the beach, he proposed!"
"Oh wow!" I exclaim. "And you said yes?"
"Of course I said yes! I almost texted you right away, but this is really face-to-face news, so..."
"I understand... and congratulations! So, he's finally ready to commit?"
"Yes. Said our latest break-up really affected him. It was so sweet... I've never seen him like that. I'm so happy!"
"And I'm happy for you. Truly, Brie, I wish you the best of luck." We briefly hug, and Brie continues to talk...
"So, what's new with you? We haven't talked for such a long time."
"Oh, there's not much to say. I've been busy."
"The new job is going well?"
"Yes, actually. I've been pretty successful so far."
"That's amazing! So what are you doing, exactly? You said you needed to move away..."
"Well, I work for an eccentric, anti-social rich guy."
I tell her I work as a...
