Your new rabbit instinct takes over and you begin to chew through your leg to free yourself from the razor-like jaws from the trap. It is agonizing but you finally succeed in freeing yourself, and with one horrified glance back at the rabbit's foot still in the trap you limp off as quickly as you can, leaving a blood trail behind you. You tumble and fall through the now tall underbrush, fearing every sound and snap of twig. The sound and smell of the human falls behind you, and you begin to hope that you might still live. A sudden flutter above you, and then a swooping feeling as you are lifted off the ground. You sigh inwardly - you are safe. As you fell into darkness before, now you feel yourself rising through it. But no. You hear wings flapping. You twist your head upward, and stare into the empty, cold eyes of an owl. You see the cruel beak opening, and then you know no more.
