You kick and jab at the hounds, distracting several to facilitate your compatiots' slaying of them. Once the threat has been dealt with, the enraged mob rushes through the open gate into the yard.
In addition to the citadel itself, there are a stable and several sheds nearby. A wooden hovel near the gate is on fire.
