Into the Mansion!

"Stay here." You order your two siblings and hop off of your bike, leaning it down above a puddle before taking off into the rain.

You approach the mansion, and immediately regret not being this rich. You're pretty sure that the gate in front of you is more expensive than your entire house, and the garden looks big enough to make mom faint from sheer joy! Probably because it's also the entire lawn. Then there are the dozens of windows with their overly elegant frames and the two huge front - or side? - Doors are marked with some really fancy-looking designs that again convince you that they're worth more than your house.

As you touch the gate, squinting to get a good look at one of the windows, where you think you see a woman or a girl or someone, you hear something sloshing through the rain. Your head cranks over to the right where you see a dog with a black coat and brown underside trotting over, despite the rain. It stops and your eyes meet, boy to dog, as the two of you stand there wondering what to do.

"How long are you gonna peep on the owners?" Kwan screams at you over the rain.

"Leng! I'm cold!" Charmaine screams.

For once, they're not arguing.

"Gah!" You let out as you jump backward, frightened by an unknown voice.

That's when you see that intercom-thingy people always keep at the side of the gate. The person on the other side sounds like a man.

"Whaddya want kid?" The man demands your answer.

You could:

Ask about the dog, if he's safe.

Ask him to let you guys in until it stops raining, cliche but kinda necessary.

Get him to tell you if there's a way out of this place, because the shortcut turned into a long-cut.
