"You! You are the head servant here are you not?"
The servant looks at you with surprise. "I am."
"The telegram I received mentioned a 'situation of life or death'. You wouldn't happen to know anything of the matter would you?"
The servant looks indignant that you would even ask him such a thing. "I do not deal with such things, I am simply property of my Master. You will have to ask him about such things."
You press him a little harder. "Come now. You would be a terrible Head of Staff if you weren't intimately aware of everything that happens between these walls. Don't play the fool."
He gets a close to a glare as his lowly status will allow. "If you are suggesting I do not respect the privacy of my employers you insult me madam. I would ask that you drop the subject for your own sake."
You don't like his tone but it's clear he isn't going to be any help.
