You swoop in and grab the cord around the young nurse's throat. Between the two of you, you are able to overpower the crazy lady and free the nurse from her grasp.

"You're with them!? You traitor!" the crazy lady shouts at you as she promptly throws herself on you. The nurse, coughing and gasping for air, pulls herself to her feet by using the bed. She rushes over to, and hits, a button on the wall which sounds an alarm.

You fight with the crazy lady as she tries to get the cord around your neck to choke you. Despite her age and mental state she is surprisingly strong and as you feel the cord tighten around your windpipe, two large men rush into the room along with a woman holding a needle. One grabs the cord around your neck and pulls it free as another tears the crazy lady away from you and gets a firm hold on her. The woman quickly uses the needle she has and injects something into the crazy lady's neck. Her kicking, and screaming, quickly subside as the sedative takes effect.

"Thank you..." you hear someone say behind you. The voice is familiar, and it doesn't take you long to realize it isn't the nurse but the voice of whoever you made a deal with only an hour ago.

You spin around and find, floating in the doorway to the room, some kind of spirit. It is a hooded white cloak with a featureless, black porcelain mask where the face should be. It has no body, or discernable form, and in the white voids of the mask's eyes you can sense a strong malevolent force, and a deep hatred... for you.

You look behind you to see if the others in the room with you are seeing the spirit too and find that you are alone. Everyone else has vanished, it is just you and the spirit.

"That woman would have choked that nurse to death had you intervened. Your selfless act also gave me enough strength to break free from the place my corrupted, twisted self had sealed me away so you have saved me too. Thank you," the spirit says, floating deeper into the room and nearer to you.

"What happens now?" you ask.

"Now you have a choice to make. You have fulfilled your contract, but I do not wish to force onto you what which you may not want so I offer you the choice: do you want me to restore you to life and things here will play out as they should, or I can allow you to pass into the afterlife."

You consider your options. Although you had agreed to the contract so you could live, the fact that the option to pass into the afterlife is once again available means you should think about what it is you really want to do.

The End: You have saved a life, and a spirit. You must now choose whether to live again, or pass on to the next world... but that is another story entirely.
