Not that it matters for I would have made this offer to you either way."

"I'm sorry Alexis, I didn't see the little girl," you lie, and her face softens considerably.

"Oh... I'm sorry... I thought with where you were standing..." she says, trailing off here and there, "I figured you would have seen her. I'll call for an ambulance, you check on the little girl," she says, then grabs her bag and digs her cellphone out of it.

You walk around the car to reach the little girl when you notice the flames around the drunk's car have greatly spread under the car. Even if you were to go try saving him now, all that would result is you catching on fire as he burns to death.

When you reach the little girl, you lift her up and turn your back on the car. You have little interest in watching the man burn even if he just almost killed two people.

A short ten to fifteen seconds later the little girl in your arms vanishes, as does Alexis in front of you. You spin around and see that the driver is no longer in his vehicle and the flames have stopped spreading, in fact, they don't even more at all anymore. Confused, you look around and spot a sprinkler surrounded by water that just floats in the air above it and refuses to come down. It seems as though time itself has stopped around you.

"I wish you'd have saved the driver, but the fact that you saved anyone at all means I am grateful to you," a voice says from nearby, a voice you recognize as the one you heard when you signed that contract an hour ago.

You turn in the direction of the voice to find some sort of spirit hovering in the middle of the road. It is a hooded white cloak with a featureless, black porcelain mask where the face should be. It has no body or discernable form in and the white voids of its' eyes you can sense a powerful malevolence and deep hatred... for you.

You stand there silently, and the spirit continues speaking: "My corrupt, twisted self is sealed away once more and you are responsible. You gave me the strength to break free of the bonds it had imposed on me. And as I am still bound by the contract it made with you I am forced to give you something in return. Not that it matters for I would have made this offer to you either way."

"What do you mean by something?" you ask.

"I do not wish to force upon you that which you may not want so... I offer you a choice. Do you wish for me to return you to life, or would you like me to allow you to pass on into the afterlife as you were rightfully denied when my other half intercepted your soul?"

You consider your options. You had done all of this for the chance to live but with the offer of moving on once again on the table... you would have to think long, and hard about which option you really want. You have a tough decision ahead of you.

The End: You weren't able to save everyone, but you saved Alexis and inadvertently the little girl too. Not to mention you freed the spirit. Now you must decide whether to return to the world of the living or see what the afterlife has to offer... but that is another story entirely.
