To the Syrian-Israeli border

You continue making your way west, stopping for the night when the sun goes down. You eat and drink some of your supplies, making sure to ration them carefully. You estimate that you should reach the border sometime tomorrow afternoon - if there are no obstacles in your way. You want to hope for the best but be prepared for the worst. As the stars come out, you lie on your back and look up at them, feeling peaceful for the first time in many days.
You continue west the next day. Around three in the afternoon, you see a high barbed-wire fence up ahead. The border! You've made it! Well, almost.
Concealing yourself behind a boulder, you scout out the scene carefully. A concrete path leads to a gate in the fence, guarded by four Syrian soldiers. To the south, the wall curves, the area beyond the bend out of sight of the soldiers.
