It is probably wise to construct a shelter. You assume it will take the rest of the day, and the outcome won't be much more than an excuse of a roof, but to your surprise, everything goes smoothly from the beginning. A fallen trunk acts as a basis; you clobber down vines with a rock, and Cate wattles them into a framework. You both then weave in large banana leaves and tuft lichens and moss into holes.

"That's not bad," Cate says. She is correct. The space is crammed, but if you budge up, you both fit under the roof. "I - ouch."

"What's up, Cate?"

"Just my boobs."

"What do you - oh, right. You are still breastfeeding."

"Yes."

"Does it hurt bad?"

"No, just a little. Usually the milk is just flowing out on itself; how often I had to change shirts... Anyway. The few occasions I have galactostasis, I just have to stroke the milk out until the blockage is cleared. And luckily I don't have any of the other symptoms that come so often with it."

"Imagine you had complications out here in the wild..."

"I'd rather not. Listen, I take care of this." She points to her chest.

You silently dress and sit at the fire, turned away from Cate to give your sister some privacy, and enjoy the warmth. Twenty minutes later, Cate sighs relieved. "Finally. Must be the stress, it never took this long up to now."

You turn around. "Are you all right?" you ask. You can see liquid glistening on and beneath her breasts in the fiery glow.

"Yes, but I think I'll go have a wash again." She trots off.

"You think the kids are okay?" you ask when she returns and takes her clothes from the line.

"They are clever, and they have the supplies from the lifeboat," Cate says from under her shirt.

"I should go to the beach and check."

"It's too dark now, you'll get lost. They will be all right, we can check on them in the morning."

Cate, now fully dressed, sits next to you.
