The Twilight Zone was an anthology series filled with random, often bad, things happening to people who are too stupid to realize what is going on. Often Rod Serling would break the Fourth Wall to narrate events, usually just to set up and explain the plot.
After the death of Rod Serling, multiple sequel series' were made.
A movie was made with four segments, three based on episodes of the origial series, and a fourth that was original to the movie. The segments all made references to other episodes. The movie is mostly known for an accident while filming which killed to illegal child actors. This, should be perceived as a real life Twilight Zone event. They weren't supposed to be they and were removed.
King Bio's Comics, used two of the episode plots for important subplots in it's own continuity. King and Beca is entirely based on episodes of the Twilight Zone... and Naruto for some reason.
