"Run tutorial program," you say.

<System: Command accepted. Loading tutorial.exe... >

Your screen fades to black and leaves your cockpit in darkness aside from the glow of various gauges, and switches. You wait as the machine loads the tutorial, realizing that you'll probably have to give the AI a bit of a boost if it survives the battle so it can load up faster.

<System: Tutorial.exe loaded, running... >

<Tutorial - Shield: Your shield is just that, your shield. It protects you from harm and will regenerate over time. When your shield reaches 0, any further damage will deplete your energy gauge. >

<Tutorial - Energy: Your energy gauge is a measure if your remaining internal energy. Energy is used both to power attacks, and the emergency shielding system. When your energy reaches 0, you will cease to be able to effectively control your robot and will have only two options: eject, or be destroyed along with your robot. >

<Tutorial - Emergency Shielding: When your shield has reached 0, the emergency shielding generator will become active. Sensors will detect incoming attacks and consume energy to raise the shield for short bursts to protect both the robot, and its' occupants. Effectively, when your shield is depleted, further damage will reduce your energy in addition to it being reduced by attacks. >

<Tutorial - Enemy Condition: Enemy condition is an approximation of how much damage you have dealt to your enemy. It follows the following scale: No Damage -> Lightly Damaged -> Moderate Damage -> Heavily Damaged -> Critical. When your opponent is critically damaged, it will not take much to overpower your opponent's remaining energy reserves and force them to eject. >

<Tutorial - Previous Attack: This displays the last attack you used, both for quick reference and so it can remind you where you are should you need to step away and jump back into the fight later. >

<Tutorial - Select Your Action: At the bottom of your HUD is where you may select your next action. You will be always given two options, and the energy amount that both actions will consume. In most cases, the energy consumed is proportionate to the damage inflicted. There are a few rare exceptions, but do not expect them until later on in the battles. >

<Tutorial - End: If you wish to re-run this tutorial, please run the program again. Shutting down... >

You read over the tutorial's information, getting a refresher in the operation of your robot. The words remain on the screen long enough that you probably won't need to run it again.
