Segon: M, P, Finesse
From Create Your Own Story
And so it is, Segon the Mighty, a Mercenary. You make your way from town to town, noble court to noble court, all in search of gold gilded with blood. With a sword as sharp and fierce as the law and a strong arm to wield it, mercenary life suits you. Most hired blades are temporary, just common yokels with rusty swords and dreams of an easy payday, but not you. And why would you? You have nowhere to go and no one to go there with. Mercenary work is more than just your occupation, it is your life. With no country to return to, the road becomes home. No lovers look to the horizon eagerly awaiting your return; the warmest embrace you know is your blade rending flesh. Some may mistake Segon as a lonely soul, doomed to despair and isolation. In truth, not having anywhere or anyone to call yours is liberating in its own way, and that freedom pushes Segon from place to place, never lingering long enough to grow roots.
You are still young, barely 20 years old, yet amongst the scum of Elaria there are already whispers of a fierce red haired man who offers no mercy for the wicked and no respite for the wanted. And when the rabble fears you, the rich take notice. It was nigh on a week ago that you were summoned to Lord Daren's personal chambers. You normally take work from town criers and poor innkeepers, so when Lord Daren, rumored to be the richest - and most ruthless - vassal of King Humont, sends a rider to solicit your services, you eagerly follow. You listened to his offer silently, constantly scanning the room and the man for clues to his intent. But at the end of the day your curiosity was overruled by your eye for gold, and you set off toward the Widow's Coast with 20,000 gold pieces flowing through your head.
Your task seems as simple as it is strange; you need to:
- Find a way into the Nemroll Ruins,
- Locate a bronze pendant with a relief of two dragons intertwined on it,
- Destroy the inner garden if it still exists,
- Deliver the pendant to a man in Goll.
Lord Daren said little of his motives - and paid all the more for that - apart from it being crucial to the continued survival of Elaria. You are familiar with the exaggerations of pompous noblemen, so you can tell that whatever your after is either the fulfillment of an old feud long forgotten by everyone except for those with little mercy or is simply the fanciful idlings of a bored rich man.
Either way, you arrive at the outskirts of a small fishing village resting upon the cliffs of the Widow's Coast just as the sun begins its slow escape beyond the horizon.
