You figure that the best way to get on her good side is to buy a bunch of her cookies, and then enjoy her gratitude. “I’ll take the whole case,” you say.

“All twenty boxes,” Claire replies? She bows down in thanks, giving you a nice view down her cleavage. “Thanks a bunch.”

Claire puts the box up on your kitchen counter as you count out the money you owe for the cookies. You cringe slightly when you see how much it adds up to, and you hope it’s worth it. You hand over the last of the bills which Claire stuffs into a pocket, she turns to you and says, “Thank you again,” as she leans in to give you a kiss. You close your eyes, savoring the light touch of her lips on yours. But just as softly as it arrives, the feeling goes away again. Claire pulls back from you, turns, and scampers out the door leaving you alone with your cookies.
