“Wake up slaves!” You shake Lyna’s and Helena’s bodies making them wake up in disarray. “What is it master? It’s in the middle of the night do you require our services at this hour?” Helena asks.

Responding to a slaves question is never mandatory. Instead you throw them some clothes and equipment. This only enhances their confusion. You threw them warm traveling clothes which slaves aren’t allowed to wear. Slaves are only allowed to wear degrading costumes which shows a lot of skin. They look at you dumbfolded. “Get dressed quickly!” You raise your hand at them promoting them to quickly get dressed and ready. “Good slaves, now follow me and don’t say a word or I cut out your tongues.” You lead them down the hollow mountain to the gates. Both are silent the entire time despite being confused as why you are forced to leave. You get a horse for yourself, a horse for Helena and Lyna and a horse to carry the equipment.

The slaves open the gate, you give them a stern, impatient look so that they do not ask question. They will however remember your face and report this the next day. You ride out into the darkness as Helena and Lyna follows you quietly.

………………

The next day you make camp along a small river, it’s time to explain the situation to your slaves.

“I… I killed my father the king.” Helena doesn’t seem to be able to comprehend you words but Lyna’s face shows signs of surprise and happiness. It was your father after all who went to war with her homeland and killed her people. “He was… unfit to rule. He was dealing with an unknown enemy who wanted my death. That is not the way of a king, to make deals behind his peoples backs. Especially if it involves treason.”

Helena begins slowly accepting the words that you speak and Lyna’s face shows happiness for the first time since being enslaved by you. The pain in your consciousness is her delight. “The punishment for treason is always death.”

An uncomfortable silence follows. You are not sure what to say or do and you slaves aren’t aware if they are allowed to say anything at all. Lyna however has a big smile on her face. You lightly smack her on her face without much commitment and then pull out your map.

You will be traveling with your slaves so you cannot travel as fast as you would like to. Plus you should get some permanent resting place soon in, traveling on the road always presents one chance for escape to a slave. To the east lies Ugarit, the country which your father planed to enter an alliance with. Ugarit is in war with Hystardium an aggressive warlike nation. Ugarit and Hystardium are at war, a war that Hystardium is winning. The people of Hystardium, called the children of Hysta are always accepting mercenaries in their ranks. Maybe you should go and join the war before it ends? To the north lies the great northern mountains. A harsh place inhabited by barbarians mostly. Although you could probable escape there you doubt that Helena and Lyna would be able to survive the high peaks and chilling winters. To the west lies the sea, nothing to see there then. The independent city states to the south however is a place where a man such as your self could live a lucrative life. The diplomatic relations between the states is always fleeting. At war during the summer, allies at winter. Mercenaries are always welcomed.
