Wait until the Ratbear goes away

The Ratbear has still not attacked, surely it will give up and leave if you just stay put. After a while all is quiet. You circle around the tree, keeping your sword high. Something hits you from behind. You stagger, and then long claws are digging into your neck and shoulders. One moment you are fighting, and the next, blood and air bubble out from your throat.
The last thing you see is the Ratbear’s long tongue, reaching out to taste your flesh...
