The One Ring
From Create Your Own Story
This time the ring fell into the hands of another. You.
There has long been an oracle of your Elven lands. A man who has been deemed quite insane. He forever mumbles about a Hobbit who finds the last ring of power. He alone has to destroy it and bring order back into the world. This was the prophecy of the ages. It is what was supposed to have happened; but it didn't. No one knows why this prophecy did not come true. No one knows why the stars went airy; but somehow they did. And now all this responsibility rests on your shoulders. Will you have what it takes to destroy this ring?
You hail from a beautiful land. The land of Elves. By nature Elevs are indeed creatures of the beauty of nature. They find wonderful ways to twist their surroundings into something of art. Your family is a high one in this nation. Your parents are proud and rich. They can also be vain and quite naive. This is their downfall. You, however, have walked a slightly different path. You, who are justly proud show no signs of vanity. Your eyes are untainted by the filth of your parents. That could be why the ring chose you.
This day it is particularly sunny. The sky is clear and a bright blue. The air is warm and crisp and is lightly scented with the smell of flowers. Near your city you walk through the trees. Bird sing loudly in the high tops as they flutter about. You can hear squirrels and other rodents playing in the underbrush and trees. Across your path, a small rabbit appears and gleefully hops into a bush. Around you is a sea of green. The tree trunks, as you pass, or thinly covered in moss and lye. Some even have vines lightly creeping up to the heights of the forest to look out upon the world. Some bushes have little flowers blossoming on their tiny branches while other small creatures nibble on them. The forest floor is lush with a green blanket of grass. Flowers also dot this heavenly floor.
Silently, you smile to yourself as you continue alone your path. Currently you are headed to a river. A very fast flowing river that is said to flow right through the Shire. An interesting hypothesis considering the is nestled quite a long ways east of the place you seek. Still, legends are just that. Legends.
On this trek you are off to catch fish for the stew your mother is cooking up. By now she is so old and frail. You are happy to help her out whenever you can. It was a pleasure to see that smile on her tired face. Even the elders say taht she may not have much time before she returns to the earth. Though it saddens you, you bear it headlong. You are supposed to be a strong warrior in your society. You cannot afford to show weakness.
By now, you can hear the vast rushing of the fast flowing river. The water's current is rough as it cascades over rocks and down slight drop offs. Though it all leads into a calm smooth pool of fresh clear water. This pool has been here for centuries and yet still provides sustenance for an entire race of people.
As the trees begin to thin you see a small wooden fishing canoe tied to a stump next to the pool. This is what you will be fishing in. As you reach the boat there is already a fishing spear tucked inside. You take hold of the spear firmly, feeling the old rich wood. Then, swiftly, you push the boat into the clear water and gracefully leap in before the water even has time to touch your shoes.
You slowly paddle out to the middle of this pond. Then you wait for just a few moments in statuesque stillness as the fish begin to swim into the open water once again. slowly you begin to see the sleek multi-colored fish begin to swim hesitantly into the open water. they're bound to know that something ins't right. You give them a few moments more to calm down as you raise your spear over the water. This will take a precise and careful shot.
As a large algae colored fish swims directly under your spear you strike, hard. The spear goes through the fish cleanly. You pull the spear, and the thrashing fish, out of the water quickly to kill it before placing it into the boat. In satisfaction you smile to yourself. Only a couple more like that one and you'll be able to go home.
But, as you peer once again into the clear water, you notice something you hadn't before. In the depths a golden ring glistens in the sun. A most peculiar looking ring. One of the likes you have never seen before. For a few moments you stare in wonder at the ring before you begin to contemplate whether or not you should dive in and retrieve it.
