You ignore the warning and only a few seconds later... you wish you hadn't.

A wave of force suddenly tears its' way through Y-NOT Pizza, knocking over tables, turning seats into nothing but splinters and fluff, and shattering glass everywhere. The front windows of the shop are totally blown out and shards of glass are launched into your backside right before you're blown forward and smash your face into the sidewalk. The blast also sets off the nearby car alarms and sends people screaming and scrambling for safety.

Luckily for the boy, he was standing in front of you, so when the front windows were blown out all of the glass hit you but not him. He had been knocked off his feet too, but was knocked a bit further back so you didn't land on him when you came crashing to the ground.

The concussive wave is followed by the sound of the explosion, a deafeningly loud noise that makes your ears ache and ring. You also feel the warmth of the resulting fireball on your back even if it doesn't exit past the front windows of the building. It's all over in mere seconds but it feels as though it lasts much longer.

The boy scrambles to his feet with a few cuts and bruises. He backs away as his eyes well up in tears, from the pain and confusion of what just happened.

Pain surges through your body from the force with which you struck the ground, and the bits of glass now embedded into your back. You find that it is sheer agony to even try moving let alone getting up, so you simply lay there.

A few minutes later you feel your last second tick away, and the moment it does the world around you abruptly freezes. It's as though time itself has stopped, as nothing moves, all the noises cease, and even your wounds don't hurt anymore.

"You saved that boy, even if you didn't mean to," you hear a voice whisper in your ear, the same voice you heard when you signed that contract.

"You could have saved many more, but I thank you nonetheless. The loss of all those lives is tragic, and I can only hope those still alive do not suffer long."

"What... what happens now?" you ask, finding your voice again.

"Now I offer you a choice... I can restore you to life, and though it will be painful, you will survive your injuries. Or... I can allow you to perish, and move on to the afterlife you were denied by my corrupt half."

You consider your options: to live, or to die. You'll have to think long and hard about which you truly desire. You have a tough choice to make.

The End: You have saved the life of a young boy, even if you did not mean to. Although more could have been saved, at least not everyone died. You must now choose whether you wish to be restored to life, or allowed to pass on to the afterlife... but that is another story entirely.
