You wrap the poor girl in a blanket and jump out of the window, slowly landing in the garden below. You start running towards the local doctor's home. The streets are empty and calm but you can feel in the air that something has changed; someone has crossed the line and put your kind in grave danger. Most of the houses around you are normal but from now and then, more often than you'd like to admit you can sense new children of the night awakening to this world of lust and desire.
You came from Europe a long time ago because your nature had been discovered and you couldn't face the hordes of Vatican appointed hunters that where sent on your trail. With the modern technology, the modern weaponry, the infrared goggles, the internet… What is going to happen after the dust settles down won't be a hunt but a simple genocide and your species will be the target of it.
The only solution you can envision are your lands in Argentina, near the Tierra del Fuego where the nights are long and the human cities far apart. If you manage to hide there for a hundred years then you might survive the war that is brewing.
Rosie caught in your arms bringing you back to reality.
The doctor's door is open. You leave the Hansen’s daughter on the couch and start searching the house for help. Nobody answers. The car is in the driveway. You try to call the doctor’s cell. It rings in the bedroom just by the keys to the car and a wallet. The doctor has left in a hurry and you might not want to meet with him again. When you come back in the living room, Rosie is not where you left her. You exit the place…
You should have checked, now she has joined the ranks of the vampire hordes. You hate yourself for not being there when that happened, even if you know it wouldn’t have made much good. You run to your place to grab the minimum things you need to flee the US.
When you turn in your street you realize something‘s wrong... Your home for the last fifty years is burning. In front of it you can see a group of figures dancing. You know almost all of them, in another life they were your flock, now all that is left is a group of frantic young vampires.
The only one you don’t seem to recognize is bulky teenager that seems to stay away from the group observing the vampires with content. He must be behind this mess.
Maybe if you manage to kill him, the newly formed vamps will be freed from his influence and you might kill the problem before it spreads. On the other hand he seems pretty young and he might only be the agent of a more powerful and older vampire in which case you should probably run.
What will you do?
Or turn around and flee as far away from this mess as possible?
