The Burned Tower

You take three long leaps out of the forest. You gather yourself for a leap and jump up onto what was once just the first tier of the tower. You leap in through the hole and spy two other figures on the ground floor right next to where you land.

Entei and Raikou.

Small world. You think.

“It seems we all had the same thought.” Raikou says. You nod. Sure.

“I was feeling a bit sentimental.” Entei says in answer. You wonder if the Unown did something to bring them here. The two look at you.

You also can’t help but wonder if they also went through what you did. You silently curse the Unown for not telling you. You don’t have to wonder long, for Raikou speaks up.

“Welcome, new Suicune.” Entei also nods a greeting.

“…Thank you…?” You say. The two chuckle at your confusion.

“The Unown told us what befell the last Suicune, so it makes sense that you are not the same Suicune that we knew before.” Raikou says.

“What happened?” The two beasts share a look.

“How much did the Unown tell you?” Entei asks. Relieved that you wouldn’t have to hide anything awkward, you tell them.

Raikou glances questioningly at you. “They didn’t tell you about… never mind.”

“What?” But Raikou only shakes his head. You look over to Entei.

“I don’t know why the Unown didn’t give you the whole story, but I guess they have their reasons.”

“Maybe Suicune has to figure it out?” Raikou asks Entei, who shrugs.

Getting a bad feeling, you ask again, “What happened to the last Suicune?”

You stare the two of them down.

Raikou manages to mumble, “…killed by…” before Entei butts Raikou in the side.

Great. You know you’ll be attacked, that’s to be expected, but now you have to worry about being killed. Wonderful.

You try to get them to tell you more, but are unsuccessful.

“Where are you headed now?” Entei asks.

“To a-” You cut yourself off as you hear a noise nearby. All three of you jerk towards the sound and stare in surprise at the trainer who had just come down the ladder from the entrance floor above.

The boy has a Totodile at his feet and you can tell that he’s very close to evolving.

The three of you scatter up and out of the tower.
