You don’t want to mess with the military quarantine line to the south so you decide to head north until all this settles down. You drive for a couple of hours enjoying the hot rays of the sun on your skin.

You would have expected more traffic jams outside the city but the few survivors must have fled earlier than you did. You would have expected a lot more people trying to escape the doomed city but the number of survivors is awfully low.

In the first hour or so the large majority of towns you go through seem abandoned and you only have to clear the road of carcasses and abandoned cars once or twice but as you move away of Monroeville more and more cars join you on the road slowly you down. Eventually the line of cars in front of you come to a full stop. You park the truck on the side of the road and walk up a small hill to see if you can evaluate the situation.

What you witness is simply the longest tailback you’ve ever seen. Some cars even seem abandoned but you can’t be sure from where you’re standing. One thing is sure/ this way is blocked and if you stay here you’ll be a sitting duck when the night falls.

You spot a small town a few miles to your left. You could make a U turn and drive there to see if you can find a place to hide for the night.

You could also try to drive off road and follow the highway to see if it clears at some point.
