Offer her marshmallows?

"Hey Mel," you say, "do you want marshmallows?"

Melanie gives you a caught-off-guard expression, furrows her brow, and asks, "What, like, just to eat?"

You laugh. "No, for your cocoa."

Laughing at herself, Melanie rolls her eyes. "That's the second drink talking. Told you I should've stayed with one. Uh, no thanks, not really in a marshmallow mood."

"Right on," you say. "I'm never in a marshmallow mood."

The water boils, and you stir the water and hot cocoa mix into the cups. All ready. Where should you suggest you two sit to drink it up?

• "Hey, you wanna go sit in the living room?"
• "So, my old room's down in the basement..."
