"Who are those guys after you?" I asked, staring at the girl. She was
wearing a strapless black tank top and skinny jeans. She was a head and
a half shorter than me, and petite in a cute way. She looked the same age
as me, sixteen or seventeen.
Before she could answer my inquiry, the men chasing her slammed against
my front door, making no attempt to turn the nob. The girl shrieked and
ran to me, hugging me tightly and hiding behind me.
"Can't...breathe..." I muttered.
The girl let go of me when she realized the men wouldn't get in. She
looked at me, fear still in her eyes, but now with a hint of hopefulness.
"Everyone is acting like that," she told me. "It's like everyone went rabid.
They are trying to eat us."
