You are twelve years old, and have surpassed your teacher in technical ability. You need to continue your studies, but with whom? You live in a rural French village and your current teacher is the best available locally. You can attend the Paris conservatoire and improve your technical and compositional ability, but you will leave your friends and family. Alternatively, you can attend lessons at the nearest town, by an elderly pianist and composer, whose name is Descarottes.
