I originally thought I could pull off a story with state information (i.e. variables) without having to use anything more complicated than wiki pages. I have given up on this hope, and deleted the false start.
Instead, I have realized I will have to use something more advanced than mere wiki pages. Something like Twine - still as simple as possible, but with far greater opportunities to track variables.

Your sister Chloe went missing in the remote seaside village of Seashell Bay, and you have taken the weekly ferry that will take you to the quaint little port in order to investigate her disappearance.
While it is summertime, Seashell Bay is notorious for its rainy weather, so you have brought a warm sweater.
