"It's a mystery novel," you say.

"I noticed," she replies.

"So, you wanna read the book?"

You hand over the book, which she is delighted in getting. "I hope you don't mind me reading your stuff."

Well, there goes your book, you think. An hour of leisure time gone down the drain. You pull down the hood of your jacket and doze.


It is nearly sundown when you wake up, and you notice you were just in time to come down off the bus; you've reached the terminal of your destination.

"What the . . ." you blurt out. The woman, together with the book, is gone.

You think of looking for her in the bus, but the vehicle is about to leave.
