As soon as your eyes fall on the weird… things that have replaced what you think were once hands, you hear a distant thud and the darkness falls away to reveal a meadow.

That explains the flower scent. Your mind distantly observes.

Weird white ribbons distractingly flash on the edge of your vision and you twist your head to get a better look at them. As you do, you feel your head get incredibly heavy and you fall roughly to the ground.

You hear the girl let out a smothered laugh and footsteps herald her approach.

“Don’ worry. Ya’ll get used to tha weight. Ya’ll prolly feel better if ya go for a swim.” She gestures to the nearby lake that you’re surprised you didn’t notice earlier. Maybe you were too preoccupied at realizing you’re not human. (Is that a bad thing?)

You drag your body up and manage to stumble your way to the water’s edge. You pause. Can I swim?

As if hearing your thoughts (maybe he can…?) the man lightly chuckles.

“You can swim, and more, my good…” He trails off and mumbles something under his breathe before continuing. “Go on; slip into the water and discover yourself.”
