The black screen switches to the news room of KNOP-TV. A bored weatherman announces a Tornado Warning for Central Nebraska and the area immediately surrounding North Platte.
He casually remarks that while this part of Nebraska doesn’t lie in traditional Tornado Alley, a Tornado Warning should be taken very seriously. He pushes his glasses up and begins to describe ways to stay safe in a tornado emergency when the screen turns to white noise.
A thud can be heard on your front yard a second later. Dropping your iced tea on the floor, you run to the window to see your TV antennae lying smashed on the ground.
The wind chimes hanging on the side of your house clang louder and louder in an unholy symphony. You know that this is no thunderstorm.
