"Hello, Mister."
You look to the side. There's a girl with blonde pigtails sitting on the metal steps leading up to the next floor.
"Someone after you, Mister?" the girl asks.
"Maybe there is," you say. "And if there is, getting caught chatting up a kid like you will only make things worse, so bye now."
"I'm not a kid," the girl says. "I'm nineteen, even if I don't look it. Chatting with me will make things better for you, not worse. I know stuff. There's always someone chasing people out of the drug lady's apartment. I'll give you someplace to hide if you lemme have some of that candy you got rattling in your pockets."
