Grabbing the handle above the side window would make your arm dangle right in front of Julianne's face, which you imagine would be pretty annoying for her. You could stem against the diver's seat, but wouldn't that leave you in an awkward position with your arms outstretched for the whole drive?
The ride turns out to be troubling. Whenever the driver does his stop-and-go-faster, you are still thrown backwards and forwards, although maybe a bit less than if you had done nothing. Still... your underbelly moves back and forth, which means that your underwear - and that what is covered by it - slides over Julianne's bare thigh. You realize that your mum must have put some lotion on her legs before departing. Why else would you slide over her thigh without resistance? Screw that damn cabby - why must he drive like a maniac?
