History

War Zone Wrestling was begun in April 2002 founded by Mark Martel and Landyslam in Amsterdam, New York. WZW had not hesitated to partner with alternate local federation, XCW, which was ran by its founding father known as 2X (Xtreme). The two parties quickly confronted in a feud, and Landyslam had won the XCW International Championship, as shortly the same day, Martel achieved the XCW Heavyweight Championship.

WZW Domination 1, the beginning of their flagship event, paved way for the showdown between the two organizations, but however their battle ended when Martel lost the Heavyweight Title to a wrestler named Disaster. Sundays and Fridays of WZW and XCW shows respectively led the 2002 season to action packed occurences. WZW soon crowned its first primary champion on July 12, 2002 with Crazy Kid overcome the odds of defeating out Disaster, Big Daddy, Landyslam and 2X in a Five Way Elimination match. In August, Kid lost the title in a Triple Threat match to Hardcore and 2X at the King of Extreme event that saw the XCW and WZW Titles unify. The title went unseen for the rest of the year.

At the end of 2002, XCW folded. Martel and Landyslam rapidly scrambled to prepare a proper roster for WZW's 2003 season which only had 5-8 participants. All championships were vacated around this time. In April, Landyslam defeated Flawless Jack to win the main title, holding it to November where he teamed wth Calvin Rodriguez to defend the Heavyweight and International Titles that were both lost to the opposition, Xtreme and Crazy Kid.
