Bibby began competing in the backyard in July 2000 during a mock talk show entitled "Bobbins Talk". Bibby used his amateur camera to film episodes of the show, usually shot in the bedroom of his house. Shows would contain slapstick violence and amusing banter between the fictitious guests. Much of the discussions would be wrestling orientated, and during the summer months the show would be taken outside where the slapstick violence turned into a wrestling bout between two show regulars, Lemmington Roswell and Curtis Irvine. Bibby acted as referee and created a makeshift belt. The title belt was won by Curtis Irvine following a pedigree on Roswell. Bibby became commissioner for the BTWF and would organise events and matches between the characters. The botched suplex that injured Bibby in 2001. |
In revenge for the attack, Bibby made an impromptu match between Roswell and Irvine on the following house show with Roswell's career in the balance. In allegiance with Irvine, Bibby removed his sweater to reveal a referee shirt underneath and subsequently fast counted Roswell down. Bibby would then involve himself with the fictitious side of the BTWF when he began a feud with the then existing stable, Right to Censor. After several altercations with the imitated ring leader, Steven Richards, Bibby faced the imitated Bull Buchanan. During the match, Bibby suffered neck trauma following a botched suplex. Bibby was dropped in mid-air and landed on his head, his body weight coming down on his neck. Bibby struggled for the rest of the match, noticeably dazed for a couple of minutes and despite landing the BibbyCutter on Buchanan, Richards would cost Bibby the win.
Bibby created a hardcore title that would be defended in the same way as the WWE hardcore championship with a '24/7' rule. After the imitated Val Venis won the title, Bibby attacked him backstage and forced a three count from the referee to capture the hardcore title in what would be the final scene in the BTWF.
Leyland Wrestling Federation (2012-Present)
LWF's Early Days
Bibby during his short, unofficial reign as LWF Champion. |
11 years after his last appearance in the backyard, Steve Bibby launched The Leyland Wrestling Federation - The LWF. The idea emerged from a scheduled bout between himself and James Bruce created for Facebook users' entertainment. Wrestlers were drafted and Bibby Towers was used again, having undergone serious renovation since the BTWF days.
In the pilot edition of Monday Night Mutiny, Bibby faced Russian, Vladimir Lugervoy in the first LWF match. Bibby's feud with Bruce continued as Bruce would hit Bibby with a chair costing him the match. More was to follow as Bruce would enter the Towers, cutting Bibby's guitar string with scissors and throwing his prize shirts down the toilet. His actions would lead to a brawl at the end of the night.
Ordered by chairman, Daryl Snape, Bibby and Bruce would not be allowed to physically altercate until the upcoming Inception event. Bibby won a match with The Ref that night but was later abducted on the roadside and thrown in the back of a car. Bruce would receive a suspension as Daryl put two and two together but was later proved to be wrong when footage of Lugervoy paying the assailants was revealed. Bibby's contract signing with would-be replacement, H.A Snape was cancelled and Bibby was attacked during Snape's rage. Bibby interfered in Bruce's match with the younger Snape that night, hitting H.A with the BibbyCutter to disqualify Bruce.
Bibby uses a barbed wire bat on Bruce. |
The showdown between Bibby and Bruce occurred on August 18th, main eventing Inception at Hunters Lodge. Bibby struggled to maintain an offense until the bout became more hardcore orientated, unable to counter Bruce's submission attacks. Bibby would gain the upper hand with weaponry on the outside but was greatly hampered when Bruce's chair met his, busting him open and fracturing the scaphoid bone in his wrist. Bruce continued the damage until Bibby gained an advantage using a barbed wire bat, causing Bruce to bleed. Both men would later fall through the announcers table causing a double 3 count. When the match was restarted by Daryl Snape, Bibby was beaten by a reverse inside cradle.
On the 4th edition of Monday Night Mutiny, Bibby sought a rematch and was given the opportunity to earn it. His chances were slim as James Bruce arrived in referee's attire to officiate Bibby's match with Matt Beesley. Bruce tried everything to prevent Bibby from winning including attempting to throw powder in Bibby's face. Bibby would counter the attack, blinding Bruce who mistakenly hit Beesley with the Mullering. Bibby laid out Bruce with the chair before using Bruce's hand to count the 3.
The rematch would be a yardfight on the 5th edition with Paul Bradley officiating. A brutal 15 minute battle would ensue with Bibby being thrown through a pile of wood, chairs, barbed wire and bamboo canes all used and Bibby receiving the Mullering onto tacks. Eventually, Bibby scored the win with a sledgehammer and captured the LWF title.
The Turncoat Alliance
Bibby would be forced to give up the belt on the 6th edition of Mutiny when it was discovered that Bradley's contract had been changed prior to the yardfight, making him no longer an official LWF referee. The Donn's announcement that Bradley would be Lugervoy's manager caused shockwaves through the federation as it was now clear that LWF's superstars were rebelling against the company. Bibby demanded a match that night pitting himself and H.A Snape against The Donn and his Henchman. The Donn left the Towers that night and left the henchman to go it alone. Bibby and Snape were victorious but were attacked by Vladimir Lugervoy. The return of The Eclipse Alan Jones looked to be a saving grace but Jones aligned himself with Lugervoy and Bibby was slammed through a table. Bibby was again involved in chaos on the seventh Mutiny. Despite being beaten down by the Alliance again, Bibby would be included in a Fatal Fourway match at upcoming pay per view Northern Warfare for the number one contendership.
Bibby would be winner at Warfare, seeing off H.A Snape, Matt Chadwick and Alan Jones. Jones would injure Bibby that night by smashing his knee with a steel chair and although he took the fight to Lugervoy, Bibby lost the title match with the Russian.
After Warfare, Bibby continued to war with the Alliance but would encounter problems with H.A Snape stemming from Warfare. Snape cost himself and Bibby a tag match against Paul Bradley and Kenny Dizzle and would brawl with Bibby the same night.
The next week the pair would face off in a match to stem the ill feeling. Bibby caught Snape unaware after he had fended off Alliance interference and won with The BibbyCutter. Bibby also waged war with other LWF ally, Matt Chadwick on the 10th Mutiny -- again to bring a curtain down on increasing tension. The match would end in a disqualification when both men were attacked by a hooded returning Alan Jones.
