2000 Wrestling (or solely now just 2KW) is an independent non-profit, park action wrestling federation that was initiated in 1999 and is based in Manhattan, New York. Running over a decade, it has amassed 300 various competitors with a strong 30 in remainder.

Formerly 2000 (2K) Wrestling, the organization eventually opted to abridge its name to initials which only stand as symbolism of the dedicated work and skill ethic derived from the performers. The promotion is limitedly recognized in a virtual community, showcasing a consistently and physically-intensified product of prodigious semi-trained and rookie workers varying from high flyers, technicians and pound-for-pounders that altogether offers grounds for a slam-bang, shoot-style wrestling atmosphere, usually defying the stereotypical hardcore nature of backyard wrestling.

Although 2KW Wrestling is not presented in a "backyard", it is linked closely and ambigiously to backyard wrestling for the popularity backyard wrestling has already gained. In further noting, all federations occuring in any place is still labelled backyard wrestling due to same reason. 2KW has joined the Georgia Wrestling Circuit before the folding of 2008 and has ended its season with an expected return due around March 2009.

History

In 1999, 2KW initiated as an obscure federation under the creation of Vinny Mac, SyNN and Kid Krazy, in their early lifetime. Presented inaugurally as a frivolous product, they sought regional programming on the New York non-profit public access station called the Manhattan Neighborhood Network fortunately garnering viewership and solid positive reviews, eventually prompting the direction of 2KW to take a rather serious tone, employing such talent use of Jackal, Reaper, Grifter and Saylo.

Despite the fact that 2KW began in 1999, any video footage of the organization had been released online after the 2006 affiliation with YouTube which picked up production from its 2006 period (with approximately 14 videos being terminated to meet policies). A compilation of clips featuring Reaper is the only evidential video material on the internet that shows some of the past in 2KW. Factually gaining yearly increasing recognition, much of it can be attributed to their hard work and plugging by solid 2KW fans on the internet (most of which consist of backyard wrestlers of other promotions) and most essentially the promotional support from backyard wrestling communities, Global Backyard Wrestling News and Breakfall.net

With the organization performing at local parks, the federation has seen 300 different competitors come in and leave their mark over the elapsing years while a solid 30 members (including a newly signed former NECW talent, Shawn Matthews) still bode under the 2KW banner avoiding major injuries with the exception of minor cuts and bruises. The 2KW fanbase which show up in attendance to tapings, have a reputation for being attentive and uttering random hilarious banter which often appeals to the product, rendering it a better watch. Currently, the federation utilizes one show entitled 2KW Tuesdays as their weekly tapings show, semi-retiring 2KW Saturdays and occasionally producing a free-per-view. In 2008,

Expanding recognition

2KW style

2KW offers a consistently physically intense, technical and spot-oriented shoot wrestling style which combined with the talent provide unparallel and unrivalled, pure, risky, unadulterated wrestling action exclusive in the current era of backyard wrestling. Occassionally stepping out of the normal, 2KW will display a rare showcase of hardcore wrestling in a moderate fashion, quite seen in matches between FNB and William Black. Moreover, the federation focuses on a ruling system that morely emphasizes and permits talent to display their true wrestling ability.
