Mike Montero’s matches are always long and indecisive; over time, he has become one of the most talented wrestlers. He has already beaten some of the best competitors in RWA and was the heavyweight champion of the federation in 2011. Mike Montero is often seen as an arrogant and pretentious wrestler. He was accused of cheating during several matches to get the win.

Beginning - The Suicide Kings

Success and rivalry

Mike Montero begins his career by being the tag team partner of Zach Alexander, another wrestler of RWA. In 2008, they both formed the Suicide Kings and emerged as the best team of the fed. In 2011, however, their friendship turned into a fierce rivalry. Their huge success caused tensions between the two men and their pride led them to the confrontation. Over 2011, they fought several times against each other. Contrary to what many people thought, the Suicide Kings team has not disappeared and the two wrestlers still fight together as partners. However, Zach Alexander and Mike Montero appear less and less together and TJ Swift is gradually replacing Mike Montero as tag team partner of Zach Alexander.

In 2011, despite a growing rivalry, Zach Alexander and Mike Montero made the Suicide Kings the best tag team in RWA. Their close coordination and complementary style enabled them to defeat many other experienced tag teams. The 2011 overall record of the Suicides Kings is impressive: 18 matches, 12 victories and 6 defeats. Above all, the Suicide Kings have won the RWA Tag Team Title twice.

Performances (2011)

In January, they beat the team R.W.A by abandonment. In April, the Suicide Kings experienced their first failure by losing against Members Only but they quickly took their revenge over the same month at the RWA Legacy Cup. The two wrestlers also won a match against Mea-T and Fesche. A month later, the Suicide Kings beat T. Phoenix and Alex Corvis thanks to a close coordination.

In July, the Suicide Kings challenged the M1nute Men - one of the most powerful tag team - at the RWA Legacy IV. Throughout the match, Zach Alexander and Mike Montero were dominated by their opponents. M1nute Men’s moves exhausted the Suicide Kings and they finally got the win. This match was a crushing defeat which proved the inability of the two wrestlers to really threaten a tag team too strong for them.

Few days later, the Suicide Kings faced the Power Trip for the RWA Tag Team Title. As they were about to lose, the intervention of a wrestler outside the ring allowed them to win. However, the federation decided to organize a rematch. Once again, they won and got the title. Over the same month, they wrestled against the Dead Sllence in a new Tag Team Title match. After an intense match in which they were about to lose several time, they finally won and got the title once again. In August, they faced Positively Charged (Summertime Showdown). Several mistakes enabled their opponents to beat them. But bad losers, they decided to leave the ring with their belts. Some days later, the Suicide Kings had the same behavior during the 4 Way match against NBK, Dead Silence and Power Trip. They left the ring with their championship title without having defeated any team.

The following month, Zach Alexander and Mike Montero re-confronted Positively Charged for the Tag Team Title. While they were beaten, the Suicide Kings attacked their two opponents, called for a rematch and finally kept their title. This match was considered by many as one of the biggest cheatings of the Suicide Kings. At RWA Commemoration, they were beaten by the Bomb Squad.

In October, they lost against the Influence at RWA Devils Night but they beat the NBK after a long and indecisive match. For the Tag Team Championship, they fought Jack Conner and Logan Rose, two of the best wrestlers in RWA. Both of them used their best moves to get the win - including Mike Montero’s Styles Clash and Zach Alexander’s Driver. But their opponents finally expelled them out of the ring and won the title. Jack Conner and Logan Rose put an end to the Suicide Kings’ domination over the RWA Tag Team Championship. In November, at the RWA Thanksgiving Throwdown, the Suicide Kings fought against the Agency. Despite a tough match, their close coordination allowed them to be victorious. A month later, they wrestled the Zoltan. Once again, the match was long indecisive but they got the win at the end.

His career as single wrestler in RWA

In February 2011, Mike Montero wrestled against Sean Leiter in a ladder match. He took the belt after few attempts and won the match. This victory was a semi-success because he was attacked at the end of the match by two wrestlers. But he emerged as a talented wrestler capable of defeating powerful opponents. A month later, he fought Billy Ware in a long and uncertain match. He resisted several attacks - including a RKO. After having countered Billy Ware’s finisher, he executed a Canadian Destroyer and won the match.

In March, he wrestled Logan Rose and Billy Ware for the RWA Heavyweight Championship. After a long match which was long indecisive, Mike Montero got the win by executing his finisher the Styles Clash on Logan. He became the new RWA Heavyweight Champion and emerged as one of the best wrestlers in the fed.

Two months later, he wrestled for the first time against Zach Alexander, his tag team partner and new rival at the RWA. He experienced his first failure. While the match was still indecisive, Mike Montero was surprised by Zach Alexander’s Holocaust Driver and lost the match. His defeat increased the rivalry between the two wrestlers. Mike Montero took his revenge over Zach Alexander a few days later in a tag team match. He used one of his best finishers, his Style Clash, and got the win. Over the same month, Mike Montero faced Tom Billington, a powerful wrestler in RWA for the Legacy Cup. Once again, he was victorious after a tough match.

He faced Logan Rose, once again, in a ladder match for the RWA Heavyweight Title. Mike Montero had won the title a month earlier against him. Both of them used chairs and ladders but Mike Montero, exhausted, could not prevent Logan Rose’s victory. He lost his title and refused to share his hand at the end of the match.

Mike Montero then fought Billy Ware, Jack Conner and Sean Leiter. After the elimination of Jack Conner, he eliminated Sean Leiter with his Angel's Wings. But Billy Ware countered Mike Montero’s finisher that he wanted to execute a second time and won the match by doing his RKO. In June, at the RWA Genesis event, Mike Montero defeated Chris Cruise with his Moonsault after having countered two Tiger Drivers with the help of his girlfriend and Zach Alexander.

In July, Mike Montero wrestled in NNW against an experimented competitor, JT Dunn. He executed his Angel's Wings in vain and he was finally beaten by his opponent’s Moonsault. A month later, he was back in a 5 Man Elimination Match against Zach Alexander, Logan Rose, Sean Leiter and Billy Ware. He eliminated Billy Ware but was eliminated by Sean Leiter shortly after.

In October, Mike Montero faced Zach Alexander, his tag team partner and bitter rival. The first part of the match is characterized by a clear domination of Zach Alexander over his rival. Almost knocked out, Mike Montero was unable to counter any Zach Alexander’s moves. His Styles Clash was countered. In the second part, however, he took over his opponent, executed an Angel's Wings and a submission hold and finally got the win. Few days later, Mike Montero wrestled again Zach Alexander in a Triple Threat Match with Jason Devine. Mike Montero missed his Moonsault on Zach Alexander who knocked him out immediately after. But Jason Devine finally won the match.

His style in wrestling

Since the beginning of 2011, Mike Montero has won many matches defeating some of the best wrestlers in the federation. He is an offensive wrestler executing various technical moves. His signature moves and attacks allow him to exhaust most of his opponents whatever their size and weight. Mike Montero is also known for using a range of finishers usually fatal to his opponents. The Angel's Wings, the Canadian Destroyer, the Style Clash and the Moonsault constitute his most impressive finishers to get the win. He successfully executed these moves against some dangerous challengers like Zach Alexander, Logan Rose or Billy Ware.

Mike Montero is a fast wrestler, making almost no technical error, and few people are ultimately able to counter his finishers. Moreover, he is a competitor able to wrestle any kind of style which has been a great asset in several matches. Mike Montero has without any doubt one of the most complete wrestling style in RWA. His overall record in 2011 remains well positive: 13 matches, 7 victories and 6 defeats.

Main characteristics

Mike Montero is often perceived as an arrogant wrestler on the ring. As a member of the Suicide Kings, he showed with his partner Zach Alexander a lack of fair play in several occasions. He was also accused of cheating and did not hesitate to get help in tough matches when he was about to lose. In particular, that was the case in June against Chris Cruise at the RWA Genesis where Mike Montero avoided several Tiger Drivers which could have been fatal to him thanks to the intervention of his girlfriend and Zach Alexander.
