2KW (formerly 2000 Wrestling) is an independent park action wrestling federation based in Manhattan, New York and founded in 1999 by Vinny Mac, Kid Krazy, and SyNN, who is in predominant ownership while it operates under management department, Divided World Entertainment. Limitedly known, 2KW has developed a significant consideration as a topflight federation with an open-circuit approach to all backyard wrestling practitioners.

The federation name was previously abridged to solely 2KW, a three-initials symbolism left to trademark the hard work and dedicated labor given towards it. Increasingly gaining new fandom, it is known for its mix of various sized performers, its focus on technical, lucha libre and riskily stunty showcases and its extreme sports-like shoot wrestling intensity usually defying the stereotypical hardcore nature of backyard wrestling.

Although 2KW Wrestling is not presented in a "backyard", it is linked ambiguously to backyard wrestling for its pre-existing popularity. 2KW has recently returned from a 5-month off-season hiatus on March 7, 2009.

History

Origin

In 1999, 2KW initiated as an obscure federation in Manhattan, New York under the foundation of Vinny Mac, SyNN, and Kid Krazy in their youth. Presented inaugurally as a frivolous product, they sought regional programming on the New York non-profit public access station known as the Manhattan Neighborhood Network, fortunately garnering wide Manhattan viewership and abundant positive reviews via emails. Eventually they were prompted to switch direction of 2KW to take a rather serious tone, acquiring Jackal, Reaper, Grifter and Saylo in 2000 to enlarge the roster while many else followed. They were, for a certain period, also associated with the GWA federation sharing championships before splitting off into their own entity.

They proceeded to receive countless publicity including two UPN news articles about the show with the first article trashing backyard wrestling, but due to positive reviews a follow-up story was conducted to report how contrasting 2KW was to the stereotypes of the practice. Footage of 2KW also appeared on the Best of Backyard Wrestling and even on Maxim Magazine's B-There Volume 2 DVDs.

Divided World Entertainment

Around 2003, 2KW came to the management of Divided World Entertainment, an off-screen operations department initially led by Grifter as the first representative in charge of signings and proceeded to govern the federation with existing dispute from others within. Eventually 2KW owner SyNN, FNB, Scythe and Jamal Jackson became members to form a management team, who all work cohesively behind the scenes in organizing events, concepts and scripted storylines with SyNN giving the final approval.

For on-screen purposes, Jamal Jackson was recognized before a retired Grifter took over as Divided World Entertainment Representative employed as their mouthpiece to direct instructions and enforce their regulations. At the end of the 2008 season, his position was up for voting against Dubb C, but was most favored in vote.

2KW Tuesday and Saturday

2KW Tuesday and Saturday serve as the days in the week which 2KW presents its weekly events in a Manhattan, New York park neighborhood. As of 2009, Saturday became the only day events would be held by the federation.

Most of the adundant line of wrestlers seen in the federation tend to radiate interesting characters and prodigious capabilities with different styles including technical, lucha libre, and brawling, working matches very riskily fearless and always trying to emulate their last performance. Few however, factually borrow postures from professional wrestling stars notably Great Styles and V.i.P, who sport similar postures to professional wrestlers, Randy Orton and Rob Van Dam. The story would be different with performance, where talent work to incorporate innovation.

Various parks have been used to host events permittedly in the neighborhood locality of Manhattan without any issues from local authorities for performing in a public area. In fact, it is allegedly claimed that occassionally police officers drop by to observe indisputably. With backyard wrestling a liable practice for injuries, major injuries have been avoided with only minor cuts and bruises sustained. Performers in 2KW are voluntary with few actually having received professional training and wrestle at choice in verbal contracts, skillfully executing moves in a physical precautionary manner. Such impression is complementary to their often defiance of avoiding stereotypes in backyard wrestling as they implement a ruling system to allow performers to showcase their genuine talent in an extreme sports-like shoot wrestling style.

The federation has a small set of audience congregating around their location also referred as the "2KW Universe", a clear play on the "WWE Universe", that insert their frequent random hilarious banter and have tendencies to utter remarks that shatter kayfabe, adding interactively to the enjoyment of events along with the similarly tactical pro wrestling-like commentators I.P Freely and Jamal Jackson. The audience are also additionally an excited pair when given high profile matches. 2KW talent also travels to and hold events outside of the federation territory citing their supershow in Pennsylvania and joint partnership agreements and collaborations with Xtreme Street Wrestling, Insane Backyard Wrestling, 3 Count Wrestling and XWA.

2KW has been increasingly arising with each year that passes which considerably is attributed to their hard work and promotion by avid 2KW fans on the internet, some of which consist of backyard wrestlers of other federations. Moreover, this is much coupled with resourcefully the promotional support from backyard wrestling sources, Global Backyard Wrestling News and the Georgia Wrestling Circuit. At this time, there are future plans to expand 2KW and test their hands in pursuing a full-fledged turn into a legitimate promotion.

Product style

2KW offers a consistently physically intense, technical and spot-oriented shoot wrestling style which combined with the talent provide unparallel and unrivalled, pure, risky, unadulterated wrestling action with pinches of innovative "spots" and moves becoming quite exceptional in the current era of backyard wrestling. Occassionally stepping out of the normal, 2KW will display a rare showcase of hardcore wrestling in a moderate fashion, quite seen in matches lately between FNB and William Black. Moreover, the federation focuses on a ruling system that morely emphasizes and permits talent to display their true wrestling ability.
