Overview

SLiK is someone whom you come across once, maybe twice in a lifetime. He is an idealist and holds several rules of self-conduct. On the ASMB, he has no alts to speak of for he doesn't see the point in having one other than the off chance that he might get banned. He hates spoilers with a passion will urge others to not reveal them. If he spots excessive off-topic activity going on, he'll immediately turn the conversation around. He has encountered trolls at most twice in his life. One incident included where the topic was that all members of the AD are perverts. He, along with meatwadmaker and several others fended off the troll and sent him to his bridge. Probably the worst aspect of SLiK is his persistence, which sometimes turns into pure stubborness. He is one to realize his faults and has no problems telling others of them.

He is often found posting in Action Discussion's What are you Listening to? theads, where whenever he posts a song that he is listening to, he will post it in the most proper format possible where it's:

[Song Title] - [Artist/Band]: [Album/Single Name]

He does this all the time so that if someone were curious what album the song came from, he would already have it all there.

SLiK belongs to several fan clubs on AD:

  • BLEACH Fan Club
  • Yoruichi Fan Club
  • Hitsugaya Fan Club
  • Samurai Champloo Fan Club
  • Jin Fan Club
  • BLOOD+ Fan Club

Origins

Jin, SLiK's most used avatar.

In the search for a decent username, an unknown 17-year old found himself frustrated. One day while looking at various pics of cars from Mercedes-Benz, he immediately fell for one of Benz's convertibles, an SLK 230. From then on, he could not keep his mind off such a car for it was a convertible with a folding hard top (which was uncommon at the time). Suddenly, the boy had ended his search for a decent user name. By simply sticking an 'i' in SLK, adding the chassis code for the Mitsubishi 3000GT, and the word 'the', he created the username, theSLiKZ16A. His accompanying avatar was that of The Big O itself. He went on to his first forum, an arcade forum about a local mall that he went to and started his online life. Soon enough, there came one member who attempted to quote him saying, "someone with 'SLiK' in his name". Realizing the length of his username might become an issue, theSLiKZ16A shortened his name to ' SLiK '.

Time passed, and SLiK soon found himself hanging around in other forums. He came across an Initial D site and used his newly acquired username and joined another online community. There, he used those forums to educate himself on online life. He learned of signature making, bbcode, quoting, flaming, trolling, and the like.

Because it was an Initial D forum, SLiK thought it would be appropriate to use an avatar related to the series. He chose the ridiculously talented Bunta Fujiwara as his avatar. For his signature, he tapped into the power of PhotoShop and created a signature using a Toyota Celica GT-Four.

It would only be a matter of time until 2004 when Shinichiro Watanabe unveiled Samurai Champloo to the world. SLiK was intrigued at the prospect of another anchronistic anime. After watching it, he found Jin to be his favorite character as he easily matched his personality. From then on, Jin became SLiK's standard avatar and created a matching signature to boot. Because SLiK enjoys the cold so much (despite beinge a Pacific Islander) he chose to use an avatar of Jin in winter wear. This has become his forum standard. In the [as] forums, he has chosen a Jin avatar wearing a hat instead for reasons unknown.

Interests

Snowboarding

SLiK likes to snowboard as often as he possibly can during the winter. His place of choice is Mountain Creek, located in Vernon, NJ.

Band and Choir

Back in the day, 2006, SLiK graduated from high school knowing he would probably never sing again. He often remembers his past choir trips to Baltimore, New York, Hershey Park, and Virginia Beach quite well and has stories to boot.

2003 at Baltimore

The first of four annual trips, the music trip to Baltimore became a real learning experience for SLiK. While there, he visited the Annapolis Naval Academy and became in awe of the sheer size of its campus. What really surprised him was when he saw the pools the students used. One of them had a diving board whose height he belived was inconceivable. For lunch, SLiK and a couple of his friends went to Hooters to eat. There, he became a witness to an embarassing situation. One of his friends played a cruel joke by telling one of the waitresses that it was a friend's birthday. As expected, a group of waitresses gathered around the table. Instead of waiting for the song, they gave the person a hula hoop and had the person hula while they cheered on. It was strange, yet entertaining at the same time. That evening, SLiK's school went to go see a men's choir performance at the naval academy. For a bunch of hardworking future defenders of the sea, they sounded excellent. It was quite possibly the most manliest display of vocal talent ever.

2004 in New York

In New York, SLiK's school went to New York to go see Little Shop of Horrors. Concidentally, this was the first time SLiK had ever seen a play on Broadway. Afterwards, they went to Mideval Times. Also, this was SLiK's first time going to Mideval Times, so he was in for a good time. Seated, he was served a more or less, authentic mideval dinner which he claimed to be manly as it came with no utensils. SLiK found himself cheering for his knight, shouting at the top of his lungs. Sadly his knight lost and so he recognized his efforts and went back home with partially destroyed vocal cords.

2005 in Hershey Park

This was one of the first trips where SLiK's school claimed victory in a choir competition. Also, this was the first time that SLiK came as a member of his school's Chamber Choir. In a grueling match between twelve talented schools, SLiK's choir reigned supreme and claimed the title of Best Overall Choir.

2006 in Virginia Beach

During his choir's Virginia Beach trip, SLiK faced all sorts of hell on his several-hour long bus ride to the hotel. He still has shocking memories of that particular ride, including several traffic jams, the bus running off the road as a result of one jam caused by a serious car accident, multiple bus stalls, and a near miss with a sixteen-wheel oil tanker.

After that ordeal, SLiK's choir proceeded to go to the competition stage. He was confident his group would recieve good comments from the judges. As expected, his group did well with all their songs. All they had to do now was wait for the awards ceremony to see the fruit of their labor.

As a part of every good choir trip, now was the time to go the park where all the choirs would spend their day of fun. This park just happened to be Busch Gardens, an appropriate venue for the choirs to have fun and have the awards ceremony. SLiK got together with some of his friends and ran amok in the park, enjoying whatever rides and attractions they came across. On one ride, the aptly named Big Bad Wolf one of his friends had the slight inkling to take a smoke during the ride. He couldn't believe it. He was sadly mistaken as he saw smoke from the car in front of him rushing to his face. SLiK was laughing out of disbelief as he saw his friend smoke during the ride.

During the awards ceremony SLiK's group rejoiced in unheard of glorious revelry when they heard they had placed first in the competition out of 10 other schools in their district. That night as SLiK was about to go take a swim at the hotel's pool, he decided to bring his iPod with him as he did not have a watch. He needed to bring it with him so that at some time he would join his friends and go out and buy some smokes (though he doesn't smoke himself). After jumping in the pool, getting various pics of himself taken, eating copious amounts of pizza, he figured it was time for him to go get the goods. Upon leaving the pool, SLiK noticed something was wrong. Upon further inspection, he found he had been swimming with his iPod the entire time. Fortunately for SLiK, he had the iPod Nano, a flash drive player. It would only take a couple days for his iPod to completely recover. Days later SLiK noticed the battery life had dramatically decreased. He is currently on saving enough money for the 8 GB iPod Nano.

The next day, SLiK and a couple of his friends decided to sneak out of the hotel and set out for the beach. On an impulse, he and his friends ran towards the ocean only to be frozen by the cold waves. It did not matter to them, for it was Virginia Beach, and it might have been the only time to experience such a thing. Afterwards, the friends lay strewn across the sands, soaking up the sun and telling each other various stories.

Choir History

As far as his singing life is concerned, SLiK has had the distinct honor of being part of his Chamber Choir whom he as been eager to participate in. He was also a 2 year veteran of the Morris County Honors Choir, where he had the opportunity to sing songs of a higher level than most high schools. It was when he spent his time in county choir that he met many interesting individuals who shared his interests and, of course, singing.

Sleeping

Like many of the ASMB, SLiK is quite the avid sleeper. It was once said that he slept for 14 hours, translating into 2:00 in the afternoon. He feels greatly dissapointed in himself whenever he remembers that moment, for he felt he had completely and utterly ruined his day.

Recently, SLiK discovered he could sleep for ridiculously small amounts of time. After FIND Confrence in 2007, he woke up at 8:00 in the morning when he had only slept four hours ago.

Music

The way SLiK approached music was strange in a way, for he grew up in a filipino family. Thus he was surrounded in music yet found it to be a phenomenon that he could not comprehend for many years.

Start

L'Arc~en~Ciel and J-Rock

Samurai Champloo and Underground Hip-Hop

Initial D and Eurobeat

Back in the day, 2002, SLiK was at his local mall when he decided to go to the mall's arcade. He planned on going inside, use $5, play Soul Calibur II, and then leave. That day proved different as he decided to play something else, something other than fighting games for once in his life. SLiK happened to see several racing games before him, but most of them were either too old or not to his liking, i.e. IndyCar and NASCAR. Lo and behold, he found one racing game of interest, Initial D Arcade Stage ver.2. Upon playing the game for the first time, his ears chanced upon hearing Space Boy by Dave Rodgers. He asked himself, "What was this wonderous music?" and "Why is it that it goes so well with the game?". The music lacked the overuse of the synthesizer yet somehow remained upbeat and addicting. It was then that SLiK discovered eurobeat. Afterwards, SLiK began his search for eurobeat. It is said that he continues to search for eurobeat to this very day.

SLiK and the Second Annual AD Themes Elimination

When SLiK laid his eyes on this alluring contest, he knew deep in his heart what song he would be voting for. As such, D-tecnolife was his song of choice. He chose this song because for once in his life, he would like to see the "new guy" win at something. For countless days and nights, SLiK alone voted for D-tecnolife while trying to fend off the likes of the Gravity crew, led by PenguinBoss and Armandru.

At one point in the contest, SLiK was at a low point as far as his well being was concerned. All he thought was that Gravity would flat out win due to its early lead. It was just him, versus PenguinBoss and Armandru(henceforth known as Dillo). It was mere chance when others decided to aid SLiK in guiding D-tecnolife towards victory. Thus, the group known as D-tecnoSupport was formed. Regulars like FalchBurns and jakobetheliar12 were eager to lend their arms in the fight. It was then, at around 9:05 on the 26th of April, post number 6230, reply 7188, when SLiK shouted, "止めダ!!" at Gravity.

At this moment, D-tecnoSupport is at last in its final stages of the contest. The REWRITE ops are their last barrier before crossing into the promised land of victory. It would appear that D-tecnolife has the upper hand, but just like what happened to Gravity, anything can happen... even in the last moments.
