Matrix is having a pretty crappy time since he was replaced by Rakshata Chawla as the head of Comdot Estate's research and development facility. Rakshata just finds him boring and treats him like slave labor, even going so far as to try to junk all of Matrix's research and objecting to his mech designs just because they have tentacles. Rakshata sends him to report to Ozzal about the mecha project, which doesn't go so well considering that nobody ever tells Matrix anything about how things are going. He is proud to tell Ozzal about a couple of new mech pilots they're developing, and is dismayed (but not particularly surprised) when she doesn't share his enthusiasm. Matrix points out that his talents can be put to use elsewhere if he's not properly appreciated at Comdot, and Ozzal replies that she intends to keep him there as long as he knows all of her secrets. Disheartened but not deterred, Matrix resolves to show everyone that he deserves their respect and praise.

Chapter 41: Turning Pages
