Talk:Blathmac Character Sheet
From Ars Magica
I like what has been done with this NPC. The continence flaw is a weak flaw for a grog, but I don't mind particularly in this case. --Admin 00:17, 10 February 2006 (PST)
- Glad you like it. I toyed with Lost Love, as well, but that didn't fit the personality I wanted. What I really kind of wanted was some sort of speech impediment that explicitly didn't apply to animals, but the only way I could get there (barring GM fiat of course) was by way of Lesser Malediction and that didn't seem right, either - JBforMarcus
Animal Empathy 5 is basically the ability to communicate fully with an animal, as though communicating with a human using Language 5. Naturally, there are limitations based on the animal's intelligence, and what they know, but even so, at five, it is almost at maximum, so...
I'd like to know a bit more about how you intend to use this ability, and what guidelines you would set for other players.

- Not only does he have Animal Empathy nice and high so he can talk to the animals like a native, he's also got Animal Handling really high which works like all social skills for animals. Basically, he should be able to talk to any natural animal and in most cases convince it to do what needs to be done. He will use this awesome power to keep the sheep from running away:-) More seriously, what he can do with this will depend an awful lot on what the game throws at him. Left to his own devices, he'll run an extremely and efficient husbandry operation. Conceivably, he could become one of the finest dog, horse or hawk trainers in the world. If we find ourselves plagued by wolves or bears or something, he might be able to talk them down. He might even be able to talk mules into carrying magi in a pinch.
So basically, he would be the best livestock farmer, shepherd, etc. the covenant could ever possibly acquire, and more besides... He definitely sounds a little over-the-top, but not to worry...
